“Remove the stain and make your fabric shine”
In this blog, I am going to say about how to remove stains from the fabrics. A stain is nothing just dirt particles on fabric. To remove the stain, we use different kinds of detergent powder or solvent to remove different types of stains. The stain should be removed before it has set into the fabric. There are two types of detergent such as liquid detergent and powdered detergent.
Liquid detergents are mostly used in western countries. Powdered detergents are mostly used in Africa, India, China, and America. Liquid detergents are used to remove the greasy stains. Powdered detergents are used to get the mud out. Some stains can be removed by dissolving it into the detergent powder. But some stains are not being removed by usual detergent powder. An oil and grease stain will not dissolve in water.
Sodium hydroxide
So, we use sodium hydroxide to remove these stains. The washing fluid contains detergent, bleach, and fabric softener. The more you wash a fabric, it will become more faded. Laundry detergent is always a non-toxic substance and also an environmentally friendly substance. The laundry detergents are used to remove the dirt and stain from the fabric without excessive rubbing.
Till 1950, we have used soap to remove the stains. After that, we started using synthetic detergent powder to remove stains. We also use surfactants to remove the stain. The surfactants have one polar end and one non-polar end. It emulsifies the compounds which are not soluble in water. We use surfactants because it allows water to penetrate into the stain and removes out the dirt particles from the fabric.
Enzymes
In the laundry, they use anionic and non-ionic surfactants for clothes. They don’t use cationic surfactants because it is poor in cleaning the clothes. Enzymes are used to remove the stubborn stains which are composed of milk, blood, grass, and egg. There are different types of enzymes used for different types of stains such as proteases that are used for protein stains (milk, cocoa, yolk) and lipases for grease stains.
When the fabric has some stain such as tea, coffee, ink, food, and sweat, first of all, soak the fabric into any of the detergent powder with some water and wash it. The detergent powder is the most versatile product in home remedies. When the detergent powder is getting mixed with the water, it removes the dirt and oil from the fabric. We use detergent powder because it works with water to lose the dirt from the fabric and clean them away.
Natural detergent
There are some natural detergent powders that are completely safe for the environment and biodegradable. When the fabric has a paint stain, at that time it should be washed using kerosene. Ala is used especially in white fabrics to remove the stains. White vinegar is used to remove the stain in the underarm of the fabric. It is used to remove the bacteria and also to deodorize the cloth. It is an effective fabric softener.
Lemon is used to remove the rust stain from the fabrics. It contains citric acid which breaks the stains and makes the fabric brighter. It acts as an active bleaching agent. Hydrogen Peroxide is used to remove nail polish stain and curry stain. It is a whitening agent and also a bleaching agent. It is the best disinfectant aid in the laundry because it removes odors and brightens the fabrics. Borax is mixed with any type of detergent powder and it is used mostly in the homemade laundry. It is used to remove the hard stains as easy and quick.
Borax
It is used mainly for cleaning the carpets and a good whitening powder. Instead of using bleach, we can use borax which is very safe for us. It can also be used without mixing with the detergent powder. Chalk powder, baby powder and talcum powder are used to remove the oil stain from the fabric. Table salt is used to remove some of the metallic stains from the fabric.
Glycerin is used to soften the set stains, especially in wool and non-water washable fabrics. Boiled water is used to remove the fruit juice stains. When a cloth has a dye stain on it, use only oxygen-based bleach such as Sodium percarbonate. But don’t use chlorine bleach which can remove the color of the fabric and can cause damage to the fabric.
Nowadays, Shout Advanced Stain Remover Gel is used to remove all types of stains. It can be used in both white clothes and bright clothes. It is an easy spray spout. When the stain is set into a fabric, it will not be removed without damaging the fabric. There are some stains that cannot be removed such as turmeric powder, the stem of banana tree, grease stain, varnish stain, bloodstain, and so on.
