A FUN LAUNDRY DAY!

By adminblog

HAVE YOU EVER JUST LOOKED AT THE LAST FEW LOADS OF DIRTY LAUNDRY AND CONSIDERED JUST THROWING THEM AWAY? WELL, MOST PEOPLE THINK THE SAME WAY!! BUT TRUST ME IT’S FUN.

Isn’t is crazy how we love wearing clean clothes but hate doing laundry? I know I don’t like doing it because I keep telling myself that instead of wasting time on doing laundry, I could just spend the time with my family and friends instead. Now, I am sure a lot of you think this way.  Basically we hate to trade off some really interesting things that we could do in the same time with just doing something as boring as laundry.  UGGGHH..Snoozefest!!

So, I visited my family last week and living alone in another city the I kind of retained my quality of not doing laundry. However, staying at home for a couple of days and doing laundry with my mother made me realize that perhaps it isn’t that bad. She taught me a couple of tricks and they work like magic! Believe me guys, it’s mom’s magic but damn it feels good to wear fresh clothes and they smell amazing!!!  So, here’s a few things you guys can try:

Maybe avoid doing laundry when your family is home?

Well, you can spend all the time that you want with your family and then you can do laundry when you’re alone. Maybe watch a movie while doing it, play your favorite song, phone a friend. I love pampering myself and that is why my favorite way of doing laundry would actually be making a cake batter ready, putting it in the oven, and then quickly try to finish up! That way you can time yourself and after you’re done you can treat yourself to some hot cake with a scoop of ice cream biscuit crisp and Nutella! Voila! Laundry is done and who doesn’t like hot cake now?  Â

Organize your laundry in advance!

This is like working smart and that is always an efficient way to get work done.  So, always organize your laundry before you do it. Use that time to separate the laundry (colors, whites, delicates) i.e don’t confuse yourself with multiple buckets unnecessarily, Just three is good enough, load the machine, put the detergent in, and leave it there, and have it ready for later. Then, you can just press the start button when you’re ready. So, ideally, if we place three buckets at the beginning of the week and keep the clothes separated on a daily basis then it’s basically a happy laundry day at the end of the week!

Prioritize is the key here!

Wash the clothes that you need the most first. Focus on taking care of everyday clothes that you’re very likely to use before you start washing things such as dress clothes or bed sheets. This will actually act as an incentive to do some laundry. Now, think about it we actually don’t want to keep it for later f it’s for a daily purpose right. Also, maybe if you have to say twelve sets of delicates and you change twice a day then every three days you can wash your delicates and you’ll have three more sets for later!

Make laundry a fun activity?

I too had a huge question mark in my head when my mother said that to me. But it just works! Now, my mother told me that laundry doesn’t always have to be a solitary activity––you can invite children, a spouse, or even a friend to help out. They can help separate the clothes and place the clothes in their places. This will also be a good time to get some social time with others while still being productive. Plus, if you have kids, it can increase their sense of responsibility.

Believe me these methods are tried and tested and laundry day is actually fun when it turns into a family activity! Now, we know the ways in which we can motivate ourselves and that’s the key. Let’s all innovate new ways to actually fold the laundry and do it more efficiently than we used to. For further little details follow the page Dhobi G on instagram and facebook.

Finally, it’s time for the famous laundry hacks!

  • The Ice Cube Trick
If you’re lucky enough to have your very own washer and dryer in your home, make use of it beyond laundry day. If you have something that’s wrinkled or has been worn once and could use a quick freshening up, toss it in the dryer with a dryer sheet and an ice cube for 10 minutes and it’ll be smooth as a baby’s ass and smelling like a summer’s day.
  • The Towel Trick
If you need a load to dry more quickly, toss a dry towel in there for 15 to 20 minutes. It’s a scientific mystery as to why (not really, the dry towel just helps absorb moistures from the other items).
  • The Laces Trick
Need to dry some shoes quickly but hate the banging sound they make in the dryer? Take the laces and close them in the latch door.
  • The Aluminum Foil TrickWant fluffy, absorbent towels but don’t have any dry sheets? Use a balled-up sheet of tin foil. An added bonus is that it will reduce static electricity and it can be re-used for a month.
  • The Lemon/Baking Soda Trick
Get the yellow/gray armpit stains out of shirts by applying a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda to it, letting it sit for at least an hour, and then washing as you would normally.
