Easy cleaning solutions for laundry
When we hear the word the thought which comes is stained, not ironed, dry-clean clothes. Laundry can also be said as makeover to clothes. Usually in laundries the clothes are sent for dry cleaning, ironing, removal of certain stains which are not easily removed at home. Certain outfits like heavy gowns, kurtas, some silk materials, wedding outfits which have a different method of cleaning are mostly sent to laundry.
There are various processes included in doing laundries washing, rinsing, drying, agitation, ironing, folding.
There are also certain questions that commonly arise while doing a laundry…. let us see a few of them
The first question which comes to our mind is
HOW TO DO LAUNDRY?
Doing laundry is a time consuming work it requires a lot of patience, proper attention to the steps to be followed for example when washing the clothes should be washed in a temperature higher than the room temperature reason being it helps to clean certain microorganisms present in the fabric. Most of us learn the basic technique of laundry from our parents. Before washing the clothes, the clothes are soaked in luke warm soap water which help in moistening the fabric sand releases the strain on dry fabrics which when are put into machine makes it more convenient for washing.
There certain guidelines which can be useful for understanding the working of machine
Timer –
Time is specified on the machine for determining the time required for the cleaning of the clothes. The less spoiled clothes require less time as compared to the bulky ones. Also if the clothes are in more quantity they require more time for washing. The time required for a cloth to be washed depends on the material. How much is the cloth soiled, and the quantity of the clothes being put together?
Speed –
Generally means the rate at which the drum of the machine rotates when clothes are to be washed. Speed is of the 3 types fast, moderate, slow. For bulky items, the speed of the drum is generally fast. For fast speed spin is also fast. Moderate speed is the most preferable speed for most of the laundries as it has fast washing speed but spin is slower which reduces the chances of wrinkling in most of the fabrics. Slow speed is usually for the fabrics which have embroidery in them and also for delicate fabrics.
Water-
The temperature of the water was important for washing of clothes in earlier times as the detergents and the cleaning agents would not mix with cold water and warm water was necessary for dissolving them. But as the improvements in techniques, the detergents do not need warm water for mixing. This helps in saving energy and also reduces the cost. Hot water is usually used for cleaning diapers, sheets, and pillows used by sick persons which helps in reducing the chances of infection.
The drying-
The biggest mistake made is usually in drying which at times leads to the fabric getting over dried which leads in fades of colors, wrinkling of fabrics, fraying, and many more. Similar to the speed of washing there are also speeds for drying fast, moderate, slow. Fast-drying is for the jeans, bedsheets, towels, blanket and if regular clothes are dried in this speed it can lead to fading or wrinkling. The moderate speed of drying is ideal for use. The slow speed is for delicate fabric like some types of cotton.
Once the clothes are dried they should be ironed neatly and kept in proper alignment which will be easy to be delivered back to the person owning them.
These are certain guidelines which can be helpful for doing laundry.
REMOVAL OF STAINS
Stains are most common problem when it comes to clothes. Stains usually are left by food particles which fall on the clothes, also sometimes when one color is darker than the other it leaves stain on the other color, other stains commonly seen are of wine, fruit, juices, blood, chocolates, oil, ink, many more.
Although most of the stains can be using hot water there are certain stains like those of chocolate, ink, blood, which require special stain removing materials.
WHITE clothes or sweat stains
when seen the age-old cleaning agent used for these stains is bleach. In earlier times only chlorine bleach was being used but over the time it is suggested to make use of oxygen bleach and not chlorine one because it is seen that chlorine bleach is more harmful to the fabric. Apply the bleach on the yellow marks of sweat stains usually seen in the armpit region and on other places if stained leave it overnight in water and continue the normal cleaning procedure the following day.
Blood stains
If fresh can easily be washed of using salt and water. But if the stains have been there for a long time then hydrogen peroxide is the most suitable solution to be used although it should be seen that it does not allow loss of color.
CHOCOLATE stains
its light can be washed off using soap water and detergents but if not then Shoutspray can be used.
RED WINE
when falls on the clothes (white specifically) does not leave a red stain but turns out to be purple. In such cases, the stain can be coated with salt and warm water is allowed to fall on it from some distance also the agent wine away can be used. Wine away is also useful in cleaning the stains of berry juices.
INK
when falls on cloth utmost care has to be taken for not allowing any other. Liquid falling on it which will lead to the spreading of the ink on the cloth. Isopropyl alcohol is used for cleaning ink stains
There are many other strains that have their own removing agents. Some removal agents are ammonia, acids, glycerin, cornstarch, alcohols, acetone, and many more.
