Whether your attire is casual wear or specials it comes in jillion types of material. Ranging from polyester, cotton, nylon to silk, cashmere, and wool. Considering the amount you spend on these clothes, it becomes your treasured possession. You fret a lot when it comes to washing these clothes.

That special t-shirt of your closet which you bought with all your heart needs a wash. And now you are worried that using machines or detergents might damage its refinement. Sometimes, you don’t even invest in “that dazzling attire” because its management might turn out as a liability. So, here we are here to make your life easy by aiding you to keep your beloved attire intact and your closet filled with trendy and delicate clothes.  Follow the following information while you wash your clothes or when you give it to laundry:

Read the direction given with your clothing set.

Generally, your attire comes with a certain set of regulations to follow. People have a tendency to miss it and end up using the wrong approach while washing it. After you have checked the label make sure that you follow every set of instruction and you would already come a long way in maintaining your clothes.

Maintaining the color of your clothing is one of the real challenges. Always flip your clothing while washing and make sure that the water in which garment is soaked is cold. Warm water breaks the fiber quickly and removes the dye from clothes while cold water protects clothes from bleeding.

Separate dark clothes and light clothes while washing.

Dark clothes tend to bleed a tad color irrespective of precautions so make sure to wash dark clothes with clothes who are equally dark.

It’s effective if you quickly treat the stains.

Soak the stained area with warm water and put some soft detergent on it (You can google some soft detergent and read reviews of the product before buying). Scrub the stained area with a soft brush and rinse it again. After this put some vinegar in the affected area and then rinse it again.

Some delicate fabrics can also be washed in the washer if its cycle is delicate otherwise it’s advisable to wash the clothes with hands. Use mild detergents and never put detergent directly on garment. Always fill the tub with water, put garment inside it and then put detergent in the tub. Swish the garment side by side for about five minutes. Avoid scrubbing and cramming of clothes. Keep changing water after every load.

Cashmere and Wool Clothes

They need exceptional attendance while washing. If you directly put these fabrics in washer then it may result in loosening or stretching of the fabric. It is safer to hand wash the garment.

Fill a tub, basin or bucket with cold water and add a squirt of cleanser which is specially devised for wool (Google appropriate product and buy it after going through its review). An alternative is to mix a hair shampoo in the tub as a fabric of wool and cashmere is similar to hair. After that submerge your garment in the mixture and twirl it around the water for about five minutes and let the garment soak for 45 minutes. Later, drain the dirty water out from the tub/bucket/sink and rinse it with cool and clean water two times.

Never wring your cashmere and woolen clothes while they are wet

As wringing it manipulates the fabric which might result in the deformation of your garment. Instead, lightly remove the water by squeezing it by making the ball of fabric.

Drying a sweater is another essential process and it is advised to keep sweaters away from dryers as dryers might shrink the knits. Therefore, after extra water is removed from the clothes spread it on clean towel and smooth it to bring it in its original shape. Let, the garment air dry after this process. You should never hang the woolen or cashmere clothes till they are dry as it might leave the sleeves sagging.

To remove stains in your woolen and cashmere clothes it is appropriate to soak the affected area and remove it gently with your hand instead of scrubbing it.

Delicate fabric

Generally, we favor dry clean the delicate fabrics like silk but with proper care and instructions, you can tend to your delicate clothes.

Before washing always test that whether or not silk bleeds color because silk fades. Dab the small area of your garment in water and if it bleeds then take garment to the cleaner it advisable to leave it to professionals.

Fill the tub, bucket or sink with cold water and put your silk garment in the tub. Use a very mild detergent or a very mild shampoo. Stir the garment for few minutes and leave it there for few minutes. Silk leaves the dirt very easily so few minutes would be enough. Drain the dirty water and rinse it with clean water. Remember not to wring it while drying it dry it in the same way as we did for woolen and cashmere clothes.

You can also dry it by keeping it on a dry towel and when a towel is a wet use a new towel. Now, use the hanger to dry the silk and never put it under the direct sun as that may damage the fabric. Try to just air dry it.
