India established medical facilities overnight for covid-19
China
The city of Wuhan in china affected by a virus called corona in December of 2019. After December it started to spread quickly in China. where the hospital facilities are not enough.
China started building hospitals using prefabricated units. They build emergency hospitals in just 10 days. Has several isolated wards,30 intensive care units and it can hold up to 1000 patients. They already had the prototype for the hospital. Which is designed, when the SARS virus affected China.
India
In India Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21 days lockdown form march 24 to April 14. To prevent the spreading of the corona.
India has a population of 1.3 billion. With the present hospital facilities India can’t give treatment to people.So it decided to build a hospital.
Every state in India now having similar priorities to increase the number of beds in the hospital. Increase the capacity of the intensive care unit. Extending the service of the doctors and nurses who are going to retire.
The government of India also panned to convert medical colleges and railway coaches into isolation wards. Stadiums into quarantine facilities and part of hospitals under defense.
The railway factories were asked to immediately access the items such as hospital beds, medical trolleys, masks, sanitizers, and ventilators.
As part of this initiative, the Northeast Frontier Railway has started converting coaches into isolation wards. At the Coach Maintenance Depot in Kamakhya and Guwahati after consulting medical professionals. Non-AC sleeper coaches are being converted into isolation wards for patients.
FACILITIES
Each cabin of the coach has been converted into an independent isolation ward for one patient. There are nine such cabins in one coach. India railway employee Dipen Barman, inspects a train coach being converted into an isolation ward.
Plastic curtains have been placed between two cabins for privacy and isolation. The end panel of the coach near the entry and exit is removed. To easily access stretches. each coach has a nurse cabin to monitor the patient. One of the four toilets of the coach has been converted into a bathroom. Indian railway employees fix mosquito nets.
Railways Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted: “Stepping up efforts to fight Coronavirus. Railways have converted a train coach into an isolation ward.”
