5 Iconic DD National Shows that are COMING BACK TO TV!
After a huge demand on social media, national broadcaster Doordarshan is bringing back the epics of ‘Ramayan’ and‘Mahabharat’ for its audience across the country and abroad.
During this period of quarantine, let’s spend more time with our family watching some of the iconic TV shows from the 80s and 90s that are returning to Doordarshan with “more iconic content”.
Five Iconic shows that are re-telecasting on DD National Channel
1. Ramayan:
It is an Indian mythological television series, which aired during 1987-1988, created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. Ramayan introduced the concept of Hindu epics to Indian Television and went on to become a national classic, it aired on Doordarshan in the mid-’80s. Retelecast of ‘Ramayana’ starts from Saturday, March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening from 9 pm to 10.
2. Mahabharat:
Mahabharat is an Indian tv series based on Hindu epic with a total of ninety-four episodes which originally aired from 1988 to 1990. Directed by BR Chopra. The relay starts from Saturday 28th March at 12 noon and 7 pm every day.
3. Shaktiman:
Shaktiman was one of the first Hindi speaking TV superhero shows. The show became a super hit and went on to complete a run of 520 episodes till 2005. Show’s producer Mukesh Khanna played the role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, who happens to be a photojournalist. The repeat telecast starts from 28th March at 1 pm on DD national.
4. Circus:
Circus is an Indian old series created and directed by Aziz Mirza. Starring Shahrukh Khan in it that aired on DD National during 1989-1990. The story of the Circus serial is based on a young guy, Shekharan Rai who returned bo India from America and manages the Apollo Circus troupe of his father. This serial is the second television series did by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan after his debut serial Fauji. The repeat telecast starts from 28th March at 8 pm on DD national.
5. Byomkesh Bakshi:
Byomkesh Bakshi is the first Hindi Television series based on the Byomkesh Bakshi character created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. It became critically acclaimed and the most celebrated adaptation of the character keeping it fresh even after decades. The show aired between 1993 to 1997 and then repeat telecast starts from March 28 at 11 am only on DD National.
