Services During the Pandemic Lockdown
As coronavirus cases keep escalating in India, the Indian government is doing its best to aware people and teach them what are the steps needed to be followed to avoid COVID-19. Along with these measures, the government is also asking the public to stay calm and avoid traveling unless it is really necessary. The government has already implemented curfews in many places and total lockdown has been ordered in some other.
Here is the difference between a Curfew and a lockdown:
Curfew:
A curfew is a strict order that keeps people from going out on the streets. It is announced according to the state government in emergency situations. People are forced to stay indoors for a certain period of time. Not following rules of a curfew can lead to a fine or arrest.
Lockdown:
A lockdown is a restraining order to contain people from leaving their homes. A person might be asked to show or get hold of a certificate to leave home. It forces people to stay where they are, and they must not exit or enter a given area. A lockdown usually allows essential supplies, grocery stores, and pharmacies to be functional. People like doctors, police, etc working in emergency services are not included in the restrictions.
States like Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh have already initiated curfew and states including Maharashtra, Kerala, Haryana, UP, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan have announced partial or complete lockdown for now until further notice.
Coronavirus Pandemic being a special case, the services that are going to be available during a lockdown are:
- Hospital Services
- Police Services
- Milk Vendors
- Grocery Stores
- Banks
- ATMs
- Pharmacies
Anyone defying the rules could be punished with imprisonment or a severe fine. So it will be advisable to stay indoors to make sure you, as well as others, are safe. Only go out if you need to bring groceries or if there is an emergency.
